Hi, I'm Kristie Velasco and I am a Higher Education Administrator and Media/Entertainment industry consultant.
Kristie Velasco's Bio:
Throughout her career, Kristie Velasco has worked with individuals to fight injustice, create and improve educational opportunities, and eradicate the effects of discrimination and oppression in pursuit of social equality and equity. Over the years, however, Kristie Velasco has come to realize that it is as much the business of media and entertainment, and the images and content we see depicted through the media that impacts how we see ourselves, our potential, how we define what is right and wrong in society and our ability to succeed: true equality will only be achieved when we have positive changes in the frequency and portrayal of people of color, women, LGBTQ or other oppressed communities. Since it is evident that these changes can only happen from within these industries, and requires that individuals develop a more refined sense of media literacy, while Kristie Velasco will continue to provide consulting services in her areas of specialty, she is committed to focus her career on higher education administration, teaching, media literacy and workforce development.
